A husband and wife super team, Shutts Productions, Rochester, NY based event and wedding videographers and photographers. We approach our craft form a photojournalistic point of view. There to capture your unique life.
We are Ben and Asa Shutts, cinematographers raising a family in Rochester, New York. We enjoy working in video and photography to create documentary reflections of special events.
Beginning in 2011, we began shooting weddings for friends and immediately enjoyed the work. Finding the story and creating videos that charm and capture the energy of the moment is our focus. There is something special and spontaneous in each day, capturing these amazing moments in photos and video for people to be able to relive is something we take pride in. We strive to provide you with a product that inspires you to re-experience the love, joy, and energy you felt in the moment, each time you watch your video.
Ben is an award-winning videographer who cut his teeth in the field of television news. Having gained valuable experience in all facets of video and photography, Ben has worked all types of television, freelance, commercial, wedding, and event production. A graduate of SUNY Brockport, Ben studied at the Visual Studies workshop and at the News Video Workshop in Norman, Oklahoma at the NPPA (National Press Photographers Association) workshop. He won 2 quarterly clip contests for NPPA in 2008 and took a first place AP (Associated Press) award for Photojournalism in 2010. Career highlights have included shooting an interview with President Bill Clinton while covering the Democratic National Convention in Denver, and working freelance NFL games for NFL Network and Fox Sports. Ben also has worked as a Grip on a major motion picture "The Alphabet Killer". His still photos have been featured on NPR.com. Extracurricular activities include playing drums for Oceans Of Insects and, creating horror film shorts, the genre is his siren.
I found myself behind a camera at a young age and followed the medium to R.I.T. After a year I decided to take some time away from college and explore America from the road. I spent a year traveling and then returned to college at Brockport. There my love for the visual arts deepened, and I graduated with a fine arts degree with a focus in metal sculpture. A few lifetimes and adventures later, I fell in love with Ben. I had never been the type of kid to imagine my wedding day; I was too busy ripping my jeans and climbing trees, but when the time came to plan my own, I fell in love with it. The details, the dress, THE SHOES!, the joys, the friends who would be there, the family! A chance to have all of the people I loved so dearly in my life in one room. I was hooked. I had this old love for cameras and a new desire to be able give couples' reflections of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. The best part of it all is I get to travel this road with Ben, to learn, to grow, and share. I am passionate about weddings, I believe everyone deserves to be able to relive their wedding day, whenever.
